MLB The Show Finally Hosts Player Vs Player Games And It’s Fantastic

Well MLB players streaming and playing MLB The Show are a match made in heaven. MLB, the players association and Sony Interactive Entertainment have finally joined forces to give the sports starved fans of the world some great content. Each MLB team has one representative to represent their team in the 30-team tournament. All of the players will have $5,000 donated in their name to local Boys and Girls Clubs, with the winner getting an extra $25,000 donation. MLB Network’s Robert Flores is the emcee of the tournament as he calls and talks to the players.

MLB The Show Players League Rules and Participants

Regular Season would be a Round-Robin style tournament where each team will play every other team once, with a total of 29 games. The games in the regular season would be three innings per game. The regular season opened up on the 10th and will continue until April 28th.

The top eight teams will make the playoffs of the Players League, which will start shortly after the regular season has ended. The playoff format will largely mirror the actual MLB Postseason, the first two round would be a best of three, while the “World Series” will be held as a best of five series.

Absolute stacked lineup of players that won’t disappoint anyone who wants to watch the live streams of the games. If you have ever played college baseball before, you most certainly went back to your dorms and played video games against your teammates after practice and games. It has to be that willing desire to win that has us continuously going back to video games to see who is the best player at each game. From all the trash talking, the commentary from previous games and practices and all that in between. These are the conversations that I will always cherish, and now we get to hear some of MLB’s best talks shop with each other for a few innings of MLB The Show. And don’t let it confuse you, once the playoffs roll around, guys are going to be locked in and not wanting to lose. I just hope we see a controller spike or two because it’s not a true MLB The Show tournament without a gronk spike of a controller. There’s always one guy that gets really mad, I may have come close back in the day just because NHL would get me so fired up.

One of my favorite parts about the video is the story Blake Snell told about Rangers first baseman, Joey Gallo. In one of the games he pitched, Gallo laid down a bunt for a hit to the left side of the field because of the shift that was put on him and got a base hit. Snell described his frustration, all because a guy who doesn’t bunt at all just bunted for a hit. The best part about the story is the fact that the next at bat, Gallo hits about an 800 foot bomb to dead center. Baseball is just funny that way. Oh and did I mention that Amir Garrett was playing in a full uniform. How could you not love that guys personality? I’m thankful for content like this because MLB and the players association are finding ways to keep baseball relevant during this shutdown and fans are appreciating all of the interactions between players.
